BETH HEDVA, Ph.D., an authority on mass trauma recovery, was called by UN ambassadors and national associations on emergency humanitarian missions to upgrade psychologists and volunteer recovery workers in the two deadliest natural disasters of the century: the 2004 South East Asian tsunami disaster in Aceh, Indonesia, and the 2010 earthquake in Haïti; to support healing in post-civil war Sierra Leone; to develop and lead multigenerational genocide recovery in post-Vietnam Cambodia; to facilitate recovery from colonization and to tackle racism between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians.

A licensed psychologist and marriage and family therapist, international lecturer, and trainer of helping professionals, Dr. Hedva is the award-winning author of Betrayal, Trust and Forgiveness: A Guide to Emotional healing and Self-Renewal. A former Board Director of the International Council of Psychologists, Canadian Chair of the Association for Trauma Outreach and Prevention, and pioneer in the field of transpersonal therapy, which reaches through and includes the energetic, psychic, and spiritual dimensions of human encounter, Dr. Beth Hedva’s 5-Step Spiritually Directed Therapy™ protocol has been recognized by the UN Ethics Symposium panel on Human Rights Violations and Recovery: Spirit, Mind, Body Practices. 

Known for respectfully blending ancient and indigenous cross-cultural healing practices and spiritual traditions with contemporary psychological evidence-based practices Dr. Hedva is a pioneer in promoting an integrative approach to both personal and community health and wellness.

Dr. Beth Hedva’s uniquely flexible integrative strategy for individual and community health and wellness has placed her in Cambridge, England’s 12th Edition of The World’s Who’s Who of Women, Marquis Who’s Who in America; and the American Biographic Institute’s Hall of Fame, for Humanitarian Contributions in Cross-Cultural Psychology.

A past Director of the International Council of Psychologists and current Co-Chair of the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences, Dr. Hedva has a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, a Masters Degree in Transpersonal Psychology and a PhD in Psychology. She is a licensed Psychologist (AB, R.Psych.#3212) , a Marriage, Family and Child Counselor (CA, MFT #18470), holds certifications in somatic sexology as well as medical hypnosis and is certified as a Diplomat in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Psychological Specialties. Having worked as an ‘Expert Intuitive’ and liaison to the California-based Office of Paranormal Investigation on research teams to explore ghosts, hauntings and poltergeists since its inception in 1989, she continues to be called upon frequently to function as a Clinical Parapsychologist since moving to Canada in 1996, where she joined her husband and life-partner, Harold Finkleman, in Calgary, Canada.

Dr. Hedva has held core faculty appointments in Antioch University’s Department of Clinical Psychology, and John F. Kennedy University’s prestigious Department of Consciousness Studies in California; acting in an additional role as Director of Clinical Internships and Field Placement at both universities.

As a counselor, she helps individuals find enlightening ways to succeed in dealing with life’s most difficult challenges. Committed to helping others resolve trauma in both global and personal spheres, Dr. Beth Hedva was recruited by Reader’s Digest Canada as an On-Line “Ask an Expert about Infidelity”.

Dr. Beth Hedva conducts professional development training programs globally, and provides customized training sessions to individuals, couples, families, groups, communities, associations and institutions in person, on-location, or at-distance via telephone and internet, world-wide. She recently created and released a university curriculum entitled ‘Embodied Awareness’.
